1971 was the year Bangladesh won independence from Pakistan after a brutal war that left millions of Bangladeshis killed and hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshi girls and women tortured and mutilated.
As the generation who fought and lived through muktijuddha, the war of independence, are passing away, it falls upon us, their children, to keep their story alive.
This is a project to preserve the story of our parents in their own words, and to let us laugh and cry and cry and laugh with them.
This is a project in particular to let us, along with our parents, thank and acknowledge the help of those ordinary men and women who stood by them in that difficult time not out of necessity but compassion, and put themselves and their families in grave danger only to help some strangers.
